Supplement #4 & #5 that are beneficial for fibromyalgia

I’ve done three other posts on supplements that are beneficial in the treatment of fibromyalgia.  All of my recommendations on supplementation have come directly from evidence based research.  The fourth and fifth supplements I’ve found in the literature to have potential benefit to those suffering with fibromyalgia are Vitamin C and Vitamin E.  This research shows that vitamin C and E help reduce oxidative stress, which research shows may play a role  in the cause of fibromyalgia.1  In patients with fibromyalgia total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of plasma was significantly lower.  This means your body has less ability to eliminate free radicals, which cause damage to your cells (oxidative stress).  Also of great interest in this study, was that a direct relationship between increased pain and decreased TAC exists in people with fibromyalgia.1  The bottom line is that you need to reduce free radicals in you body to reduce pain, and Vitamins C and E, seem to be a reasonable way to begin doing so in people with fibromyalgia.
