A balanced diet is important, but eating foods that we are not sensitive or allergic to is the most important. The most common inflammatory foods like dairy, gluten, soy and eggs lead to numerous metabolic disorders and can push autoimmune conditions by creating a "leaky gut". Hope this helps. Thank you for the comment.

You are welcome. I was also surprised to find that gluten was a culprit in heart burn. Through previous literature reviews I discovered that gluten was a very common contributor to autoimmune conditions, but this was the first time I had seen research linking gluten to heart burn. Thank you for your comment.

Yes it is strange how certain foods affect us differently. This is why it is important to eat a balanced diet.

Insightful post. I am sure that many people suffer with this. I believe that it makes eating a rather unpleasant experience.

Hi Dr. White, thank you for your comments. Regarding PTSD, it is absolutely a common finding in those that have been in motor vehicle crashes. PTSD is documented in the literature to occur after MVC and patients have to be evaluated and referred accordingly. If you would like more information or the literature reference just let me know.

This is a very real event. I have seen it first hand. I have had seemingly normal patients and safe drivers suffer from PTSD after car crashes. The most recent guy is now very nervous about driving and is slowly recovering. He gave up driving altogether for a while. I'm glad you brought up the topic it is a real one. This is one more reason why whiplash victims should seek council.

Thank you soooo much, Dr! This article was really helpful because I splurged over this past weekend (after eating clean ALL week), and yesterday I was in the worst mood ever, tired, hungry, etc. Today I feel a little better but still tired. So I finally said to my husband that it had to be all the bad foods that I consumed over the weekend. Sure enough, I was correct... you're info helped confirmed what I was thinking and feeling. Now I know how much of an effect food really does have on the body. Time to drink some water!!!! Thanks again :)
