&
Thursday, July 23th @ [5:00] PM
Presented by leading wellness expert
Dr. Brad Shook, D.C., BCIM
The number of autoimmune conditions diagnosed each year is exploding in number.
Consider these facts:
The American Autoimmune Disease Related Association say that 50 million Americans suffer from autoimmune disease.
• Researchers have identified 80-100 different autoimmune diseases and suspect at least 40 additional diseases of having an autoimmune basis. These diseases are chronic and can be life-threatening.
• Autoimmune disease is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in female children and women in all age groups up to 64 years of age.
• A close genetic relationship exists among autoimmune disease, explaining clustering in individuals and families as well as a common pathway of disease.
• Commonly used immunosuppressant treatments lead to devastating long-term side effects.
Dr. Shook will be discussing the Functional Medicine approach to working with autoimmune diseases. Functional Medicine is a new way of looking at a person’s health, with the goal of identifying the drivers of your autoimmune disease, so that dietary, lifestyle and nutritional support can be used to improve your health naturally.
You have probably never heard of Functional Medicine. Have you heard of the Cleveland Clinic? It is one of the most prestigious research hospitals in the world. They opened a new department recently… the Functional Medicine department.
We are fortunate to have the wonderful medical community that we do in this area, but Functional Medicine is a different approach. Come learn how I used it to help myself, and how we may be able to help you.
There are other things that can be done for your autoimmunity, and we may be able to help you get to the root of the problem! We will search with new science and labs for the cause.
Come learn:
– What the current research says must be present to develop an autoimmune condition.
– How foods could be contributing to your problem.
– How inflammation could be playing a role in your symptoms.
– How your digestive tract directly contributes to autoimmunity.
– How to address cause, not just the symptoms.

This is why nutrition, cleansing, becoming alkaline, and replenishing is so important! The food we eat is making us sick!

Renee Withers sounds interesting!
I’m genetically predisposed to autoimmune condition called APS antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. I can’t attend as I’ll be out of town. Is the seminar available via video/audio transmission? Or at a later date?
I also have a condition called LPHS (loin pain hematuria syndrome) which may or may not be a cause or effect of the APS. I’m very interested in find out more about Functional Medicine. I’ve been poked & prodded by many specialists who cannot find a cause. They only treat the symptoms. It’s extremely frustrating!
Rowena DeJesus, I am familiar with APS. Interestingly enough, all autoimmune conditions are the expression of genes that get turned on. Your genes can be thought of as a light switch, and your environment as a hand that turns it on or off. We will be talking about the environmental factors that turn the switch on and off. Your phenotype is your genetic expression of your genes and environment. I’m not going to go in great detail on epigenetics, nutrigenomics or single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP), but they are relevant to the discussion. I am planning on putting these presentations online, but time is a huge factor for me right now. I will do it as soon as I can. You can take a look at my website and learn more at drbradshook.com. Hope this helps you. Have a great day!
Thank you so much. I will definitely check your site and I’m looking forward to viewing your presentations when they become available!
My sister and myself suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, which was onset after we both gave birth to our 1st child. Do you have any experience with this and with it being potentially hereditary? Thank you!
Yes, I have worked with RA. Autoimmunity typically is triggered after one of the 3 Ps. Puberty, Pregnancy and menoPause. That is when hormones shift in women and are commonly associated with triggering an autoimmune process. Yes, you commonly see autoimmunity run in families. It is a genetic predisposition. You are welcome! Have a great day.
Thank you so much, if you think you can help with all natural remedies, I would love to get off all the mess and shots they have me on, I will make an appointment to come see you.

This approach can make a huge difference with autoimmunity. It is all based on physiology and science. Definitely visit my website and watch some of the videos and presentations I have posted so that you can learn more.
Will do, thank you!
Thankyou so much for this information. I’ve suffered since childhood with R.A. and chrones disease. Couldn’t take methotrexate so I’ve been on sulfur based meds. My flare ups are still occurring atleast 3 times a month and last 2/4 days. I will definitely look into this
Shannon, as I am sure you know those are all autoimmune conditions. You need to find out what is triggering the immune response, eliminate the trigger and support healing your body while improving immune system regulation. Hope this helps.
Thankyou I don’t know exactly how to do that.
Shannon, that is what I help people do in my office. If you need help, I can guide you through that process.
Where is your office at and do you take my insurance? Im already on disability so medicaid is my provider. I’ll be having my lower right leg amputated soon due to a bad car accident 2&1/2 years ago. So until that is over I can’t change my meds
Remind me tomorrow and let’s talk Marie Sherer McGrady
Do you treat and have experience with vitiligo?
I have seen patients with vitiligo, but I was not working with them specifically to improve it. It is autoimmune, and I would approach it as I would other autoimmune conditions. Look for the immune system triggers, support foundational biochemistry and work to improve regulation of the immune system while healing the barrier systems of the body. These are the concepts that I teach in my classes. I hope this helps.

Do you have much information about having Lupus (SLE) and RA?
Hi Sharon Miller. Yes, here is a link where you can learn more. https://drbradshook.com/conditions/natural-treatment-for-rheumatoid-arthritis/ Also my autoimmune presentation applies directly to these conditions. It is also on my website. Let me know if you have other questions. Hope this helps.
I have been diagnosed with dermatomyositis ..current treatment of prednisone and hydroxychloroquine neither of which I am thrilled about. Are there other natural alternatives?
Will you be offering any of the autoimmune online? I’m in Montana
