If you have just started the autoimmune paleo diet, would testing for food sensitivities 2-3 weeks out from this , still show meaningful results ?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Yes, but you need to do it soon or you may neef to do a provocation and eat the food to see if you test positive.

      • Lorraine Genevieve

Is there a way that I can test this through cyrex on my own, in advance of the rest of testing i may have done after our first appt ?

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Not that I’m aware of, it has to be done through a physician.

      • Lorraine Genevieve

Can I call your office and have this done maybe now ?or as soon as possible. I’m feeling so dreadful that I’ve started on the autoimmune diet 100%. I’ve been on ndt for 12 years and have not been right since this started and have never gotten any solid answers.

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Yes Lorraine, please call my office Monday and they will help you. Hope this helps you.

I’d love to bring my aunt to you but unfortunately despite my constant telling her she needs to change her habit in order to be healthy … she won’t. She’s 64 diabetic… eats a bag of Splenda (that’s equivalent to a 5lbs of sugar) a day, due to that she takes Imodium daily … she is destroying her guts so now she is disabled and can only walk with a walker (was diagnosed with Parkinson’s but the meds they gave her for it didn’t help any) which lead me to believe that’s not the problem. All I can do is tell her … you can’t complain about being disabled if your not going to take any measures to try to improve your health

I’ve been under severe anxiety for the past year. Will that cause MS symptoms?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Hi Mindy, stress promotes increased cortisol levels and increase cortisol levels decrease your mucosal membrane healing. if your mucosal membranes can’t heal then that is a very easy way for you to develop leaky gut. If your gut is leaky then you’re more likely to react to partially digested food proteins and bacteria. Reactivity to food protein could promote any autoimmune condition. I hope this helps.

      • Mindy St Clair

My MRI shows only one lesion on my spine so I am hopeful that my symptoms are caused by leaky gut. What diet is recommended for this issue?

  16. Jill Ann Tyler Dupre Reply

I wish I know how I could even start healing myself.I have had thyroid nodules since my 20’s. I am 53 now and could never find help for all my issues. Pretty much every system in my body has malfunctioned for years. Last year I finally got a doctor to listen to me and he sent me to a surgeon. The surgeon did a biopsy on my thyroid nodules and diagnosed me with thyroid cancer. I had a thyroidectomy and they removed 3 lymph nodes. One of the three was malignant and also found out my gland had multinodular Hashimotos. It has been a year since the surgery and I am sicker then ever. My sed rate was 130 and my crp was over 40…no one really knows why. I was sent to a rhumatologist and they have me on 20 mg prednisone and said I had possible Polymyalgia Rhumatica…then thought maybe Giant Cell Arteritis and did a temporal biopsy on my arteries which came back negative (i was on steroids already). So right now I am living on 11 different prescriptions a day for diabetes (prednisone induced), beta blocker for anxiety, panic, and now side effects from being kept hyperthyroid so the cancer does not return, calcium replacement sine my parathyroids do not work up to par now, nexium because of severe gerd, etc..) . I feel awful and about to give up. BTW, my stomach has been a major issue for me for years and years. I know i should be on some sort of special diet but it is hard with almost no income. This illness or whatever it is has ruined my life. It has stolen my happiness and I just feel fat and sick now. (gained 70 lbs in the last 3 or so years). No one really knows why my sed rate and crp went up so high and I have a ton of other blood work that is off. All the major autoimmune diseases they have tested me for came up negative, but then I was tested for hashimotos for years as well and it always came back negative with normal hormone levels and look how that turned out. I do not trust blood work anymore. Anyone suffering similar issues please do not take doctors word..if you know something is wrong then you MUST keep looking for someone who will listen…be your own advocate because they do not care about you once you walk out that door…you are just another number.

My 13 yr old has IBS, it started at age 10 after suddenly developing anxiety and panic attacks. She is now homeschooled because of her absences due to her IBS. She has random fevers usually about 99.4 . I talked to her Dr about the fact she had a tick bite before all of this happened but her test for Lymes came up as negative so that was a dead end. Idk seems like something is being missed. When she has to take a antibiotic (which is rare) for a sinus infection or other bacterial inf. She feels better and of course no fever. Any input or thoughts appreciated.
