My functional wants me to take Vitamin D3 5000 iu daily, my cardiologist says take it once a week. I can’t take K2 because I have 4 heart stents. My cardiologist said no K2. It is my understanding that D3 won’t work without K2. What do I do?

Can someone become autoimmune to good bacteria? I would think that if the gaps were big enough, whole bacteria could slip thru too. Is it ok to take probiotics when there is a lot of inflammation? I ask b/c my daughter was treated for SIBO with Flagyl by her GI doc. Die off reaction occured with upper respiratory symptoms so I know quite a bit of inflammation is likely there. Is treating imbalance of commensal bacteria with probiotics wise to do right after such treatment or does the benefit outweigh any risk at that point?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

It’s the bad (gram negative) bacteria you have to worry about. Probiotics are good bacteria (gram positive).

Thanks, the thought of making her worse was making me cringe a little. Love your videos!

I have lost multiple friends and family members which has stressed my adrenal glands. Is the answer to adrenals, thyroid(thyroiditis), depression, anxiety Healing gut first? Looking at air diet, antihistamine diet, gluten free diet… it looks as if I can safely drink water and eat turkey lol. I have mthfr double homo, comt, pemt, gad1, sod gene mutations. So I don’t have good pathways. Methyl b12, vitd3 and liposomal vit c ingested and resulted in tired and wired with daily panic for over 30days. I now know niacin can help but I’m not sure which supplement caused this reaction. I am anemic and seeing a hematologist next week. I also have 10 almagam fillings that are 30yrs old.

Let me add I was doing very well in health until a stressful 2mths of holidays. Can stress really do this and if so how can we cope better?

    I started therapy 3weeks ago.

Thank you for your work. Signed, two year nursing student from Kentucky.

THANK YOU for posting these things! I feel like even before I saw any of your videos that I was walking into my endocrinologist appointments more informed on Hashimotos than my doc, but now… since I found you, I KNOW I’m more informed and she’s going to get a lesson on Hashimotos And leaky gut! If she’s not willing to listen, my regular doc will! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are the sort of doctor this world needs more of. Someone willing to freely share their knowledge and not try to financially exploit people who need you.
