Tomorrow Dr. Shook will be doing a part 3 on anemia. Today Iron Anemia its relationship to Hashimoto’s was discussed, and yesterday he covered B12 anemia and its relationship to hashimoto’s. Tomorrow there will be a discussion of a third anemia that is very common with Hashimoto’s.
Tomorrow, PART 3! Anyone want to guess the 3rd type of anemia associated with autoimmunity that Dr. Shook will discuss?
Selenium deficiency?!?
i would love to see that link
Paula, it is posted int he comments above. Let me know if you can’t find it. Thansk for being part of the conversation. Hope this helps you.
I recently doubled the amount of supplemental iron I take daily as my RBC was at the bottom of the range. I have always needed to supplement iron and never understood why but this makes perfect sense as I have every classic Hashimoto’s symptom including low stomach acid. Will increasing supplemental iron help enough if I have an absorption issue? I take supplements to address stomach acid issues too.
HI, Latania. Be very careful with iron supplementation, it can be very toxic! Are you losing blood resulting in low iron? I commonly see this with hypothyroidism because it causes decreased progesterone sensitivity resulting in heavy bleeding during the menstrual cycle.
I definitely have low progesterone to oestrogen ratio. The oestrogen dominance is a horrible symptom that I’m correcting. Thanks, I’ll retest my RBC and iron studies again soon to keep a close eye on that dose change. It was explained to me that my RBC would be very small at the moment and your explanation helped me to understand fully.
I am an iron deficient anemic and have just been diagnosed as hypothyroid. I would like to hear more.
You are in the right place 🙂 I will be posting more on this topic soon. Thanks for being part of the conversation. Have a nice day.
I need this link
Hi Redonna. I hope you are doing well. The links are posted in the comments above. Let me know if you need anything else. Have a nice day.
I also have low iron plus Hashimotos. I take iron daily and supplement Betaine HCL & pepsin. Definitely helps with the HCL
Hi, Denise, that can be a helpful supplement combination. Have you had to take the supplementation for a long time? Have you tried getting off of it? You should not have to take it long term. If you can’t get off of it at some point then something is being missed. Hope this helps.
I took it about 6 months ago for about 4 weeks for digestion and seen a big improvement in how I was digesting meat. I started taking HCL again recently cause I was noticing those symptoms returning. I take iron on a daily basis cause it always seems to be low.
Please post linc amd then move to england lol

I would love to get the link for the nine test for the thyroid I have Hashimoto’s plus low blood sugar’s, plus digestive problems my white blood cells are low and my platelets are low and I have low insulin . Right now my doctor is going to send me to an endocrinologist neurology, and hematology to try to figure things out do you have any suggestions
Hi, Kelli. Sorry that you are having these issues. I agree with your doctor that you need to have further investigation. I can tell you that I have seen all of these problems in people that i have worked with, but I make sure that they have been seen by the appropriate specialists before I begin working with them. Many of the people that I have seen with these problems are autoimmune, and the constant stimulation of the immune system (typically from foods, infections, and environmental chemicals) suppresses the WBCs.

Going live in a few minutes! I’m going to cover the 3rd type of anemia I commonly see in Hashimoto’s, and this is a big one!
