I quit my night shift nursing job to get healthier. That was 1.5 years ago. Since then been struggling with different “healthy” ways of eating, etc. this December all my Hashis symptoms the WORST ever. Many times felt like giving up. But kept searching and looking for practitioners to help me along the way. I have finally found a practitioner who is giving me proper medications/hormones as I am perimenopausal. AIP didn’t really help my condition. I have been on GAPS diet for 7 weeks , and finally feel a shift in my body. I have 40 pounds to lose, it’s been a very discouraging and rough road. But I agree with Dr. Shook, It is important to keep fighting for your health.

Eating and excercise keeps you looking young. They new age of medicine and healing is going to be in food and diet i believe that .

I agree with personal responsibility. Sometimes though life is very very hard & some people have really difficult things to deal with as well as their health. To the point it’s hard to get time & to focus on yourself. People get distracted with other issues in life that are challenging. But honestly I get you. Thanks

I am looking for the mental conviction to take charge of my health. I can understand why doctors get frustrated with their patients. You try so hard to help people and noncompliance has to be a constant battle. Unfortunately part of having Hashimoto’s is struggling with mild depression plus pain. This includes back pain. I’m not making excuses but just saying it is a very challenging thing to take on…….to be committed in a world that seems to work against me. That is not going to stop me though………this year is going to be my year. I appreciate your passion. Thank you!

Sorry to hear dear! Really can’t imagine! With her it’s basically only been one “not good” primary care provider and an endocrinologist that she didn’t get blood work that they requested. I’ve heard of a good holistic pcp in out area but she’s not open….. hope and pray your body heals!

Try being a 911 dispatcher and having all these problems your whole life… I’m lucky to be alive I think. They’ve taken my thyroid out in 2004 which helped somewhat but I still struggle daily. I’ve done wheat belly and I think that really helped but as you said I failed. I’m going to try that again but still need help with my medication. I get about right and they change my medication drives me crazy. I want to be totally healthy I’m trying but can’t find the help I need to maintain my medication at a normal rate. I’ve gained all my weight I lost back after they lowered my synthesis I’m sure they will raise it back again when I go back. Years of up and down. It needs to stabilize I need someone who knows how to do that.
