So storing food in BPA Rubbermaid containers are fine?

    • Brenda Carley-McGaha Reply

      I wouldn’t use any plastic

      • Rachael Mae Hosley-Ediker

I guess at the end of the video Dr Shook said BPA isn’t safe either!

      • Kathy Ramirez

Rachael Mae Hosley-Ediker you mean BPA free plastics

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Rachael, avoid all plastics! Use glass containers and glass or stainless water bottles.

      • Rachael Mae Hosley-Ediker

Even BPA free isn’t an option Kathy Ramirez

      • Kathy Ramirez

Rachael Mae Hosley-Ediker right, I heard him say that. Surprising. I’m wondering how we do that fully…even protein powders and vitamins come in plastic bottles! I guess you just do your best. I’ve slowly been switching over to glass storage containers and drink only from glass or stainless steel bottles.

      • Rachael Mae Hosley-Ediker

Me too but it’s definately not easy

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Cathy, you’re exactly right there’s no way to completely limit exposure but the main areas where you want to focus your going to be on things that you drink out of and eat out of. Any plastic that subjected to higher or lower temperature that you store food in are going to be the very first place that you should start. All of the supplementation that I use comes out of plastic bottles except for most of refrigerated products so don’t be overwhelmed any more than it already is and just focus on the things that you eat and drink from.

      • Una Johnson

And do not microwave in plastic!!

X-rays and thyroid! I have learned to make my children wear protection over their necks when getting X-rays. Dentists and doctors give me a certain look when I ask/demand their necks to be covered. They act like they have never thought about it and it’s no big deal! Should I be so concerned with this? Graves runs heavily on my dads side and lupus and rheumatoid arthritis in my moms side and I don’t want to take any chances with my children’s thyroids. I also refuse fluoride treatment for their teeth. Any thoughts or info on this?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Hi Jessica. I’m not familiar with any research on diagnostic X-rays and thyroid disease, but I will research it. I do avoid fluoride too!

      • Jessica S Atwood

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Thank you!!

      • Tracy Laws

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook What toothpaste do you use? I can’t have turmeric…. which Is in quite a few natural remedies

      • Linda L Young

Jessica, YES, Dentist & orthodontist offices should have a thyroid collar. if they don’t you or your child can use a lead apron in front of the neck.

      • Jessica S Atwood

Usually the lead apron is all they have and they will pull it up over their necks, but I have to request it.
