I am on the cream, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone compounded and it is not working, what can I do? I’ve had a hysterectomy when I was 32yrs old but I still have my ovaries, I have hashimoto

Hi, Sarah. Have you seen my video explaining these hormones in detail? Please watch it. If you are taking these hormones you need to understand why your body can’t make them (if that is the case) and the levels need to be checked very regularly. Most importantly, you need to have the estrogen metabolites checked (can only be done through urine that I am aware of) 16OH Estrogen – associated with tissue proliferation like cyst formation and endometriosis. 4OH Estrogen – carcinogenic, very dangerous. 2OH Estrogen – the primary form you want that is cleared from the body through the liver. You have to have optimal thyroid hormone stimulation of the cells of your body or your cells will not be sensitized to the hormones you are taking. Also, I do not like transdermal creams as a delivery system, a sublingual delivery system (drops) is best in my opinion. Creams bioaccumulate in the fatty tissues and levels of the free fraction (not bound to a carrier protein) can be very high, and the free fractions are often not tested! Here is the video that you really need to watch, it speaks directly to your problems. https://business.facebook.com/drbradshook/videos/1759050454334036/

Hi Dr. Shook! I have very high Testosterone and low estrogen and progesterone, and idea how I can balance the the three? I’ve have had Hoshi’s now for 1 year.. Thank you!

    • Lisa Michelle Griggs Reply

Oh I had a total Hysterectomy 7 years ago.

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Hi Lisa, it sounds like you could have an increase in activity of an enzyme that will convert your DHEA into testosterone which leaves less for conversion into estrogen. Most of the times I see this happening it’s because of blood sugar or inflammation

      • Lisa Michelle Griggs

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Thank you for your reply. I am diabetic so that makes sense. How can I correct this? I eat The AIP right now.

      • Brad Shook

Lisa, I wish that was an easy question to answer but inflammation and cortisol could also be playing a significant role. I would have to know a lot more about you and likely have labs to better know what is driving the process. Hope this helps.

I understand Rose, I don’t find it to be the most user-friendly app either but it’s kind of addictive when you start using it.

Pellets. Do you think this is advantageous

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Hi, Sheryl. If the underlying chemistry that is required to make your sex hormones has not been critically considered then I don’t think you can be sure that hormone supplementation is essential. If you don’t have optimal thyroid hormone sensitivity, if you have elevated inflammatory levels, blood sugar dysregulation high or low, work orders all your stress hormone fluctuations up or down then those things will all cause problems with your sex hormone production. So my question is do the hormones treat a fundamental problem with production of your hormones or is the deficiency of your hormones come from another calls that has not been addressed. You really just have to look at each individual person and see what’s happening to their chemistry so that you can best know what’s contributing to their deficiency or hormone imbalance. I hope this helps. Have a nice day.
