Can nurses get CEU’s from your teachings.

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

You know what Sandra that’s a great idea. I know that I would have to present the material to your nursing board for your state and get it approved for continuing education. What state do you live in?

      • Sandra Nichols-Carter

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Richmond Virginia. That would be awesome. I love your teachings. <3

      • Haelie Pellegrin Heard

I agree! Louisiana nurses would love this opportunity as well. 😉

      • Sherri Brumbaugh

I love your videos! I would like nursing CEUs for Iowa.

      • Lauri Thomas

        Maryland too!

      • Stephanie Cornell-Clark

        And Nevada

      • Karen Killion

I was thinking about that with the Thyroid, T3, T4, TSH, etc video. That video alone should be worth 20 CEU’S here in Arkansas! Such a wealth of information. I have an endocrinology book good but it doesn’t explain it near that well!!

Perhaps separate webinars for those taking synthetic replacement and those taking NDT – how to improve “optimal levels” – of … err.. Free T3 & Free T4 if they are way below the reference range.. or if doc refuses to test Free T3.. Thanks..

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Thanks for the suggestion. If your doctor well not test the levels, I would get someone else to test them.

I have been diagnosed with Graves and I have thyroid modules that are not cancerous and was told I needed to have the iodine therapy basically to destroy my thyroid and I do not want to do that. I’ve tested positive for h pylori three times over the last 10 years and am constantly having stomach problems I’m taking Zoloft and I believe the antibiotics for the pylori and the Zoloft has something to do with my overactive thyroid. What type of blood work do I need to have done to see if these medications are causing the overactive thyroid?

    • Andrea Morrow Kassab Reply

Hi Paula. It’s difficult for Dr. Shook to say exactly which blood tests would be right for you without knowing your health history, which is something we would normally schedule an appointment for. However, if you join our support group, we actually offer members the opportunity to have their thyroid antibodies test for $20 which is a really good starting point. Please follow the link to become a member: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HickoryThyroid/ After you’ve done some reading on our page, maybe you will be ready to let us know if that is something you are interested in. 🙂

Hello, I am a member of Hashimoto’s 411 online forum. One of our members posted a video from Dr. Shook. I was blown away by the depth of knowledge and “digestible” information he provided!

Along with Hashimoto’s, I have been diagnosed with Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis (HypoKPP). It is an ion channelopathy involving the shifting of vitamin K from my bloodstream to my muscles, causing muscle weakness to the point of full body paralysis. It affects my heart function and at times my ability to breathe.
Attacks appear without warning and leave me unable to move, speak or open my eyes (sometimes for hours) while I still remain conscious . It’s rare, scary and potentially fatal. Only a few thousand people have it in the world, so naturally proper medical care or information is quite difficult to find. I’m beginning to understand my Hashimoto’s, thanks to Dr. Shook’s videos. But I also need to better understand HypoKPP and if it affects my autoimmune conditions (I have more than one).
I know this is a lot to ask, but if Dr. Shook could read about Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis, perhaps he could explain how it potentially relates to or can aggravate Hashimoto’s disease. I simply do not have the knowledge or resources to make the connections. Knowing that it is difficult to get proper information from physicians with regards to Hashimoto’s, you can imagine the difficulty finding a physician willing to dig deep to help me understand/treat HypoKPP. My hope is to improve my quality of life and live long enough to see my children grow. If you have any questions, you can contact me through messenger on Facebook.
    Please help. Thank you.

I am so grateful and appreciate the time you’re taking to educate us on all these health issues that many of our doctors don’t know how to begin to address and only medicate the symptoms (Guinea pig patient). I’m interested in learning about leaky gut (I’m also hypothyroid, anemic, anxiety, depression, IBS, perimenapouse.. yeah a mess). It’s only been 2 years that I began learning all that was happening to me for the last 14 years. Not sure if you already have, but have you considered networking with other like-minded doctors in other states. Your video illustrating why hypo/hyperthyroidism happens was perfect and we need more doctors that go to the root of any issue. I always suspected there was something more to my hypothyroidism, but I was placed on Synthroid 2 years and still nada. Thanks again for your teachings and your compassion.

Yes please that would be a GREAT topic. I’ve been told that is one of my causes to hashimoto’s and I don’t know how she came up with that. I take OrthoMolecular GlutaShield for it and I don’t see any difference. My gut turns and churns daily and I have gone from being constipated to now have diarrhea and it has debilitated me from being as active as I use to be. HELP!
