All the endocrinologist I’ve seen have done less for me than my GP. She refused to do an ultrasound on my thyroid even though I had Graves. Thanks Dr. Shook for requesting it for me!

    • Jo-Ann Marie Reply

Same here with my primary doctor. I have no reason to go to an endocrinologist or a gynecologist ever again. My PCP in addition to Dr. Shook’s help, I have all I need.

they have a holier than thou attitude so if you mention anything they get their backs up and cut you off.

My endo did this to me as well. And guess what my thyroid cancer had metastasized to my lymph nodes. Need less to say I am on my 3rd endo and on my way to finding a fourth.

You gave me hope from migraine relief after 2.5 years…. I still try to get people to come see you when they’re having issues, rather it be chiropractic or thyroid issues. You’ve been amazing! Thank you for everything you do!

Most of the time the problem is the system, not your doctor… https://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org/article/S0025-6196(15)00716-8/abstract

I asked her why I couldn’t take a more natural drug like Nature Throid. Synthroid made me worse. She got up and threw some papers at me. Yes, threw. Then , she tells me to read it. What if I couldn’t read or understand that medical jargon. She belittled me and I stood up and told her I had enough of her trying to tell me that there wasn’t nothing wrong with me. I told her she was fired and I didn’t need someone who thought so little of patients. I found a doctor who confirmed that I had Hashimoto and other things wrong. She said I just had low Vitamin D and not to take pig supplements. I watched the pharmaceutical rep come in with loads of synthroid to give out.

It was my first doctor who thought I had hashimoto because a heart attack almost killed me. I was treated for high cholesterol . He told me you had a heart attack because of your thyroid. He sent me to her. I told him what happened and he told me to just keep coming to him until we could find another doctor.

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Wow, Terry. Sorry you had to go through so much. You did the right thing though, you stood up for yourself and you were your own advocate.

You’re right I went to the doctor this last week, I had a thyroidectomy in 2000, and a hysterectomy in 2002. I asked for all of the thyroid tests you suggested, the only one he will run is the TSH & Thyroglobulin levels. He won’t even attempt or listen as to why I wanted the others ran. And I want my hormones checked. NO ONE has EVER done that!!!

  58. Lisa Bradford Reply

Sooo agree. My endo wont readjust my meds (although at my last visit he told me to come back in a year and if I need any adjusting he would do it) i’ve been having a lot of breast cysts so I had my gynecologist run six different labs for my thyroid and my TSH is 0.03 and i have Hashimoto and that’s when I contacted my endocrinologist and he told me to either have my gynecologist adjust my medication or go back in and see him. Well this doctor was very recommended in Tennessee which was a 2 Hour drive and I am going to end up switching doctors because he did not do anything for me at my last visit. The endocrinologist did the same exact thing that my primary doctor did I just prescribed me my thyroid medication so why pay a higher co-pay to see an endocrinologist when I can pay a cheaper co-pay to see my regular physician

  59. Candy Cotton Reply

Mine are low. But the side effects of the meds make me not want to take it.
