You’re welcome Marie!
hi from Singapore. thanks for the explanations!
Hi Rosanna! Glad you found this helpful.
So how do you heal the blood/brain barrier?
Hi Robin, in order to heal the blood-brain barrier you have to identify any sources of inflammation and address those. This is a great test for a baseline measurement that you can utilize to reassess at a later date to see if you are improving the integrity. Keep in mind this is one of the barrier systems just like the gut and it will take some time to improve it but if you properly identify inflammatory triggers that’s going to give you the best opportunity to make a difference.
What are some of the potential treatments for this?
Hi Virginia, you have to identify the sources of information and address them. Unfortunately these types of chronic disease processes don’t win themselves to a single nutrient or treatment because he causes are multifactorial. I hope that makes sense. What I usually do is start by looking at a person’s overall physiology and we get to testing that’s needed to help us best identify potential drivers of the process.
Are you familiar with Graves’ disease?
Hi Christine, yes I’m familiar with Graves disease. It’s interesting because though it is associated with hyperthyroidism the driving factors are very similar to all other autoimmune conditions. You do have to be concerned about potential thyroid storm but what I do is help people investigate the factors that drive the autoimmune process so that we can try and dampen the autoimmunity.
Yes, I agree that the gut has a lot to do with autoimmune dz. I’ve just noticed your more geared toward Hashimoto’s in your presentations and information. I wasn’t sure if you saw or dealt with patients with Graves’ dz. Your office isn’t very far from where I live! I tried to go to hashimotoconsult.com and it didn’t return anything. I wanted to get a 15 minute consult with you. Perhaps come see you.
I have hashimotos and Graves’ disease
Me too.
A lot of us Hashi warriors flip flop back and forth between hyper and hypo. Never a dull moment!
I was diagnosed with Graves’ in ’13, just dx’d with Hashi’s two months ago. I’m new to the hypo side of things. I was severely hyper and it was terrible. My endo didn’t change my treatment when she dx’d me with Hashi’s. I only take methimazole for Graves’. I feel terrible.
