I have thyroid storms. When it occurs I feel like I’m going to have a stroke. For a year I took iodine supplements and got my weight under control. It no longer works and my weight is back up to 210.

I have Hoshimoto’s -what I found to really work well for me is adding BCAA, MG & Phos along with VitD, Zinc & Selenium…the aminos were a huge addition to feeling better…supplements are vital with an AID as were are usually deficient in key nutrients… Great Topic, Dr. Shook

My thyroid has atrophied. Wondering why? On eltroxin 25 years now.

  46. Kellie Evans Reply

I just tell gps i have panic disorder as a side effect of hashi, hypothyroidism and dare them to argue with me now haha. First time i was told no you have anxiety from stressful job etc. Anxiety is usually only related to hyper! I believed her until
my next blood test confirmed i was severly hypo. Unfortunately im still reliant on antidepressants, but diet changes have really been key for my health improving. I fast, but im in ketosis

  47. Kellie Evans Reply

I dont know your thoughts regarding keto for hypothyroidism, but it’s improved my thyroid, my gut issues, my sleep issues. Brain fog, fatigue and anxiety all gone almost immediately after going into ketosis. I’ve also lost 10kgs and no more bloat or constipation. I do need another blood test and am aware of conversion issues so have carb load days occasionally. Only side effect to keto is ive been losing my hair. I can live with that compared to where i was. I was waking up not wanting to be here anymore.

  48. Kellie Evans Reply

What should I do?

  53. Joey Clark Reply

Can you get anxiety with improper high level meds of thyroid meds

  54. Michele Killian Orr Reply

I feel like only a doctor who suffers with the same diagnosis truly can understand what we try to explain.

  55. Michele Killian Orr Reply

I have terrible anxiety…my sister refers to me as an emotional basket case…I try often to talk myself off the cliff…I wake up worrying…in the middle of the night even. Nobody WANTS to feel that way!

  56. Latania Kennard Reply

So fascinating Dr Shook. I have no doubt you are dramatically improving autoimmune people’s lives with your teachings. Prolonging lives and quality. You are truly a star. I have hashis and also antibodies to smooth muscle…the NHS says antibodies to smooth muscle is inconsequential. I think that’s my liver! Very frustrating lack of autoimmune care here in UK.
