This is ingredients of Levothyroxine in the UK-Actavis brand… There is maize starch in it … Is that the same as corn starch?
Thank you
I can’t take this it doesn’t do any good I take Synthroid
As far as I’m aware they are the same thing I think? It’s just that I’m in UK & your In The States.
I don’t know it’s all very confusing
Yeah Maize and Corn are the same.
Ok thank you, I don’t know any thyroid meds that it’s not in?
really, the pill is so small though…
If so … What thyroid hormone replacement doesn’t contain any of these??
Tirosent is a synthetic T4, but it has the least ingredients. http://www.tirosint.com/
What about Graves diease. I take synthroid I can’t take the generic.
The only NDT med that contains corn is Armour. NONE of the brands of NDT contain gluten.
Please don’t spread misinformation.
Thanks for sharing LK. I’ve been doing some more research too and found that none of the thyroid medications should contain gluten. A lot of them do contain fillers such as corn rice and dairy that have lactose in them. Those fillers and binders can be antigenic and can trigger the same type of reactions that gluten can because many of those are cross-reactive. If you’re not familiar with the concept of cross-reactivity it’s where an antibody that will attach to gluten can very easily attach to another food protein that looks very similar to gluten. The other problem is that you have to watch out for is that a lot of these medications contain food colorings and we know that food colorings bind to human tissues and they can also find two proteins promoting the antigenicity of the protein making up very difficult to be broken down by your body’s enzymes.
