Did you know the number one cause of a low thyroid, also known as hypothyroidism is almost never checked by doctors?
The most common cause of thyroid disease isn’t even a thyroid problem!
I know it’s confusing, how can “thyroid disease” not be a thyroid problem?
Join Dr. Shook as he explains the number one cause of hypothyroidism and thyroid disease that can’t be determined with standard thyroid blood tests!

Good information!
Hi Dr Shook.
I started taking NP Thyroid. On a low dose, my TSH jumped to 53. I went up on dosage and my TSH went to .25 and t3 was at 193… antibodies are 2400… what’s up with this?
Charlsie, I’ve seen people that are autoimmune to T3 and T4 and when they take bioidentical sources of thyroid hormone it activates the immune response. Many of these people do better on synthetic forms like Synthroid and cytomel. The synthetic forms don’t activate the immune response. This could be a possible mechanism behind what you’re seeing.
The Office of Dr. Brad Shook thank you. I will see about going back to Levo.
