Hi,very informative article. I developed sciatica after driving a truck for over 20 years, and I went to my medical doctor first because I didn’t know about chiropractic or my other options. He sent me for a MRI and found out I had a disc herniation at the bottom of my spine, and the disc was pressing on the nerve that runs down my right leg. He sent me to the orthopedic doctor who gave me medication and sent me to physical therapy. When I went to therapy they did exercise and stretching that made me worse. I was in real pain after going through the exercises the therapist had me do so I didn’t go back. The orthopedic didn’t even know I quit therapy and told me I’d have to get surgery that would cut off part of the disc and he told me all I could do was go back to therapy or try to wait it out. My friend had gone to a chiropractor for his back when it went out and it really helped him so I decided to try it. The chiropractor did the cox flexion distraction with me and in about a month I was completely out of pain. Why didn’t the orthopedic tell me about this treatment? I don’t get it, this worked and I thought I was going to have to get surgery. This article is right, it really helped me and only cost me around $300 out of my pocket. I paid that much to the orthopedic and therapy in three treatments.
