My doc says no point in dieting till thyroid is balanced

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

By dieting if your meaning to try and lose weight I agree but if you’re referring to improving thyroid physiology I wholeheartedly disagree.

      • Misty Eastridge

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook he means losing weight. He was very unhappy because I wanted to stay on armour and not go back to snythroid. When I decided to ask for armour the joint pain and other side affects were very bad

How are medications handled as thyroid function improves while eliminating particular foods?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

My observations is that thyroid medications don’t change when dieting. If you improve your thyroid hormone physiology and things are getting better than your doctor will work with you to adjust your medication dosage.

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

I work with people that have both problems and there is hope.

      • Nancy Deluca- D'orazio

        I live in Brooklyn, NY.
I’ve had Lupus and hashimoto for a very long time. I’m 54 yrs old.
I exercise regularly , eat extremely clean (gluten free) no processed foods/coffee/alcohol
        I weigh 125 at 5’1 1/2
I suffer with severe digestive issues no matter what I do to try to control it! I don’t eat anything that will trigger acid reflux! I have low iron and get dehydrated from the digestive issues!
        I’m very regimented!
I don’t know what else to do!

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Hi Nancy. It sounds like you’re doing a lot of things correctly.

Has anyone done immune system testing with you to determine if you were reacting to Foods, pathogens and chemicals? These are all things that can drive an immune response.
