Was recently diagnosed with Hashimotos, have been on NDT (Canadian) for 2 weeks. Prior to my diagnosis I was just hypo, I went off of Synthroid for 4 months and followed a ” health program” to address the hypo. He had me (among other things) follow the Lugols iodine protocol. Could that have turned my hypo into Hashimotos? My TSH was at 98.54 at the end of following his program. My levels are “normal” now but my anxiety still exits, could my anxiety be related to something else?
Thank you for your videos and information!
Hi Janet, I would absolutely look into your free T3 levels to make sure that you’re not getting too much free hormone that could be causing anxiety or hyperthyroid symptoms. I would also consider getting GAD65 antibodies checked which can prevent the conversion of glutamate to Gaba and cause anxiety. The Gad enzyme is a common enzyme where you will see someone that has Hashimoto’s develop expanded autoimmunity. If you have any other questions let me know if there’s anything that we can do to help you just ask. Have a great day!
I was taking Kelp for iodine but decided to stop. I now think it was a good call especially after listening to your video. I don’t want to irritate my Hashimoto’s.
thanks for the videos x
what about the injection pill ?
Lorraine can you clarify what injection or pill you referring to?
contraceptive injection
how did you get into an interest about Hasis ?
I got interested in Hashimoto’s because of my own autoimmunity. About 13 years ago I was diagnosed with psoriasis so I became very interested in what drives psoriasis which is an autoimmune condition. Due to my work schedule I tend to push myself quite a bit and not get as much sleep as I should, and a few years ago I decided to run a very expanded Laboratory panel to see if there was something else going on that I was missing. Through that laboratory panel I discovered that I had TG antibodies and that’s when I really started to learn a lot more about Hashimoto’s. I have TG antibodies though I am euthyroid, so that is considered stage 1 autoimmunity which is the ideal time to catch it.
How can we find out about any bacteria or yeast in our gut, is there a test from the Dr?
Yes, we do a very comprehensive stool panel to investigate those problems. Most doctors will not order a test like this, they will only do a very narrow test due to insurance restrictions deeming expanded testing to not be “medically necessary.” You typically have to see a doctor that focuses on functional medicine to get expanded stool testing.
