  10. Kelly Salus Reply

I cut out carbs and sugar and it has cut my chronic heart burn, bloating, and my sex drive has increased. I am also much happier overall. Is that as shocking to you as it was to me?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

In a lot of cases, lower carb diets can act as a form of an elimination diet. I’ve seen people improve with keto, paleo, and many other dietary changes. The good news is that if it works for you then that’s great! It’s not necessarily wrong. Good job!

  11. Nicole Von Monta Reply

or are the symptoms of fibro actually from hashi? Do I have two diseases or only one?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Hi Nicole! Most of the time I find that fibro is usually a functional thyroud problem that has not been identified.

I have polyglandular autoimmune syndrome type 3 C. No help for anything

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Brittany, sorry that you’re having to deal with these problems. I work with autoimmunity a lot, and would really consider investigating driving factors of the immune response if you can.

THe approach I use is detailed in this short video: https://drbradshook.com/hashimotos-doctor-method/

If there is anything we can do to help you please let us know.

      • Bretagne Mac Laithimh

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook I would like to come see you as a doctor and have you review my case if you take my insurance. If not i would be willing to pay out of pocket

How do you lower your thyroid antibodies?

    • Lisa Miller Reply

I would like to know this too!

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Christina and Lisa, this is a great video to watch regarding antibodies facebook.com/drbradshook/videos/1843740509198363/

      • Christina George

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Thanks you! I have Grave’s and had the thyroid radioactive pill almost a year ago. My thyroid peroxidase antibodies was 598 last month. I do have a nodule on my thyroid that’s been there for 2 years that I know of. I feel like it’s huge, but ENT didn’t when I saw them for it. I was worried with it being so high that it may attack the nodule, since the thyroid is no longer active or I read it could attack somewhere else. Thanks again for the video it was helpful.

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Christina, sorry you’re going through this. You are correct that autoimmunity can expand to other tissues. I would consider trying to focus on identifying drivers of the immune response, and regulation of the immune system.

Here is a video I made on expansion: (This applies to ANY autoimmune condition) – https://business.facebook.com/drbradshook/videos/900804743643369/

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Christina, this is the approach I use for working up the thyroid and autoimmunity… thought you might find it interesting https://wp.me/P1VaS0-30K

  17. Karen Kandra Reply

I wish more doctors were as honest as you.

  18. Tricia Lowman Reply

Does insurance not cover these blood test

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

No, the insurance-based model is based on treating disease with medications, and I’m thankful we have it, but there are guidelines or “best practices” that doctors are expected to follow. If they order testing outside of that guideline they are usually in violation of the insurance company contract they signed, and they can face serious legal challenges.

I hope doctors get the training to start looking at their patients with some of these concepts in mind, but the entire system would have to change… even if they want to help you they are legally bound to your insurance companies contract and their employer’s rules of practice.

  19. Tiwauna Allen Reply

Can thyroid condition go away on its own?

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Tiwauna, it depends. Some cases of thyroiditis can come and go… sometimes there is a transient infection or immune reactivity after childbirth that may self resolve but those are rare cases.

      • Tiwauna Allen

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism.. but sub- clinically hypothyroidism back in 2007(I had a goiter). I have normal levels now, I just had a baby 8months ago. I only have issues with heart palpitations and nervousness.

      • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook

Tiwauna, have they checked you for thyroid antibodies to see if you are autoimmune? That can play a huge role in shifting symptoms from hyper to hypo… I call it the Hashimoto’s rollercoaster. I’ve talked about the concept in several videos but I don’t know which videos. Basically, hormone levels spike after an autoimmune attack making it more likely to have hyper symptoms, then as the attack subsides, your body burns through the excess hormone and you tend to go normal or low feeling hypo.

      • Tiwauna Allen

The Office of Dr. Brad Shook i haven’t been back to the doctors since my postpartum appt.

I haven’t found a good endocrinologist yet. It would be nice to have to get it all under control and maybe have a lil energy.
Thank you so much for answering my questions and also posting these videos

There are lower cost ways to support your health. The very first person I worked with was probably my worst case… no kidding! She literally went to a food bank to get her food, and all we could change was diet within the limits of what was available at the foodbank, and her lifestyle… (sleep, exercise and stress relief practices). She has made huge changes!

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Hi Rita. Sorry you had to go through cancer and having your thyroid removed. In an ideal situation, thyroid hormone replacement therapy does the trick and keeps your hormone levels where they need to be. Are you having problems?

So tired of being told it is all in my head or you are over 40 now (plus 14 years). Getting worse all the time and even when I had sludge in gall bladder had me to 5 percent function was told I was normal because not gall stones. Constant headaches fatigue breathing issues especially in heat an humidity psoriasis tested by biopsy when 12 and being told is fungal when everything they give me makes it worse swollen lymph nodes. Just miserable.

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

So sorry Terri, but there is hope! I have psoriasis, and I was able to put it in remission. It doesn’t usually bother me or flare. There is a lot you can do to support autoimmunity. You can do things as simple as dietary change all the way up to extensive immune based testing. There is a place for everyone to start. If you need help, we’ll do the best we can for you.

But the issue is lm so tired l can hardly read or stay focused ..l no longer work at age 47 but ill was started 17 yrs old and l dont know how much longer l can hold on

    • The Office of Dr. Brad Shook Reply

Hey Joey. I’m sorry you are having these problems. The client I mentioned in this story invested about $4,500 to get this testing done, but there are a lot of other options, so don’t worry if that is not an option for you.

I give every person I work with recommendations ranging from free, all the way up to the most extensive testing work-up I can come up with to try and help them get the best starting place possible.

I let my clients determine where they start, and we begin improving their health. If you need help and aren’t in a position to work with me as a distance consulting client, message my office, I will give you a program to follow that has helped thousands of people improve thyroid function and autoimmunity.

The program is not currently available for purchase becasue I’m revising it, but in its current form, it is outstanding… I’m just always shooting for perfection… lol!

      Have faith, you can improve!
